Job Overview: The Snowflake Data Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines and infrastructure on the Snowflake platform. This role involves collaborating with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, design scalable data models, and implement efficient data processing solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading data into Snowflake using tools such as Snowpipe, SnowSQL, and third-party ETL tools.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data models and schemas in Snowflake to support reporting, analytics, and data visualization needs.
  • Optimize query performance and resource utilization on Snowflake by tuning SQL queries, managing clustering keys, and implementing effective data partitioning strategies.
  • Work closely with data architects and business analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions on the Snowflake platform.
  • Collaborate with data governance and security teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure on Snowflake, and implement proactive measures to prevent data issues and downtime.
  • Stay informed about new features and best practices on the Snowflake platform, and recommend improvements to existing data engineering processes.
  • Document data pipelines, workflows, and data models, and provide training and support to other team members as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives involving data integration, migration, and modernization efforts.
  • Contribute to the overall data architecture and data engineering strategy, and help drive innovation and continuous improvement in data management practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building data pipelines and infrastructure on cloud platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data loading, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and proficiency in cloud-based data services (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with data integration tools, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.


Additional Information:

  • This position may require occasional travel to client sites or team meetings.
  • Certification in Snowflake or related cloud technologies is a plus.
